Vivo Energy Namibia launched ‘Career guidance on wheels’, a Ministry of Education-endorsed initiative that aims to assist pupils with subject and career choices. It introduces them to new and emerging career fields, assists them with profile (psychometric) assessments and provides them with general support and encouragement.
Another programme launched by Vivo Energy Namibia that is also supported by the Ministry of Education is the ‘Spell quiz bee’. This enables students to compete against one another on a local, zonal, regional, interregional and national level. The Spell quiz bee receives comprehensive coverage on the national television network, Namibian Broadcasting Corporation.
Vivo Energy Namibia celebrated World Environment Day 2013 with students from a primary school in a disadvantaged area. ‘‘Operation Clean-Up’ was undertaken by senior students and some teachers with the assistance of E-Med Rescue, who were on stand-by to assist in the event of an emergency. At the same time, pupils in the lower grades participated in a drawing and essay writing competition which they enjoyed immensely. Vivo Energy Namibia also handed over a much-needed overhead projector as well as educational material to the school. The event was attended by the media, E-Med Rescue, pupils, teachers and the school’s principal, as well as a representative from the Ministry of Education who officiated at the event.
